CHRISTMAS PARADE APPLICATION – 2023Gardendale Christmas Parade Application – 2023Entries will be judged for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and people's choice (based on Facebook voting). A photographer will be at the beginning of the parade route and will take pictures of those floats who wished to be judged. Judging will be done based on these pictures following the parade.(Required) I AcknowledgeParade entries must be in the parking lots by 5:15 PM. Streets(Required) I AcknowledgeAnyone dressed as Santa will kindly be asked to leave the parade. Only 1 Santa will be in the Gardendale Christmas parade(Required) I AcknowledgeDue to the number of entries, we have no way to have designated spots for each float, so you will not know your spot until the night of the event as you will be lined up in the order you arrive. Each entry should have a designated person to communicate to parade participants where your float is located once you enter the parking lot. The individuals working the parade parking lot WILL NOT know where each entry is located.(Required) I AcknowledgeOnly parade entries will be allowed in the GHS parking lot. NO EXCEPTIONS. Drop off for parade participants will be on Grubbs Avenue in the parking lot of First Baptist Church South Campus. There will be a crossing guard to direct traffic so you can cross safely.(Required) I AcknowledgeIf you have an 18 wheeler or long trailer, you MUST HAVE three people walking on each side of the entry near the tires. 18 wheelers will be lined up on Rocket Way between the High School and First Baptist Church South Campus.(Required) I AcknowledgeThe following are NOT allowed: stunt vehicles, ATVs, remote control cars, and horses without manure bags.(Required) I AcknowledgeAll entries at the end of the parade will pull back into the GHS parking lot and unload.(Required) I AcknowledgeEach float/participant must have a parking lot decal pass to get into the parking lot the night of the parade. Once you enter the parking lot, you no longer need your decal, and it does not have to be displayed during the parade.(Required) I AcknowledgeAll participants under 8 years of age must wear an arm band that includes the child's name and cell number of parent or guardian.(Required) I AcknowledgePlease do not leave space between your float/vehicle and the person in front of you. This causes gaps throughout the parade and potentially causes a backup at the beginning and end of parade.(Required) I AcknowledgeNO RECKLESS DRIVING(Required) I AcknowledgeA representative from each entry MUST attend the mandatory meeting on November 30, 2023 at 6:30 PM at Gardendale City Hall (925 Main Street).(Required) I AcknowledgeABSOLUTELY NOTHING can be thrown or handed out from vehicles in the parade. If you want to hand out items, individuals must walk to the parade bystanders and hand items directly to them (hand-to-hand).
