We are hiring an Administrative Assistant. The pay is $13 per hour with a maximum of 20 hours per week. While this position is predominantly remote, you need to be in the area as there will be times where assistance is needed at events such as monthly luncheons, banquet, parade, etc.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position:         Administrative Assistant

Reports To:    Executive Director

FLSA Status: Part-Time Hourly (no more than 20 hours per week), Non-Exempt

CHAMBER MISSION STATEMENT:  To create, build, and empower connections to foster growth in our businesses and community.

Qualifications

  • It is required that, at minimum, the Administrative Assistant will have a high school diploma.

Skills:

  • It is required that the Administrative Assistant have excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher and be able to learn new programs and software such as Mailchimp, Canva, and Membee (our member management software).  Training will be provided for the software and programs specific to the Chamber.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Design various social media posts – Farmers Market weekly posts in the summer, chamber renewal posts each month, new member welcome posts, ribbon cutting posts, etc.
  • Ensure that chamber database is current and up to date by calling members to verify information is correct 
  • Add new members / remove dropped members from mygardendale website
  • Add events to mygardendale website
  • Search social media and the internet for local events to add to mygardendale website
  • Assist with advance preparations for chamber events and at various events
  • Cover phones when Executive Director is out of town
  • Manage and oversee set up for monthly chamber luncheons (third Thursday of each month) luncheons
  • Organizing, managing, and overseeing crafting with the chamber events in the summer and fall months
  • Assist Executive Director with membership and sponsorship recruitment
  • Assist with the planning and management of the Gardendale Christmas Parade, Annual Banquet, networking events, and other events throughout the year
  • Other duties as assigned
